Prayers for Parents
O God, from my parent’s youth you have taught him/her, To proclaim your wondrous deeds. So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake him/her, until he/she proclaims your might to another generation, your power to all those to come. (Psalm 71:17-18) Empower my parents to praise you even into their old age and proclaim your love and goodness to their children and grandchildren. In Jesus name, Amen.
Lord, you promise that the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon. For they are transplanted to the Lord’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God. Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green. They will declare, “The Lord is just! He is my rock! There is no evil in him!” (Psalm 92:12-15). I believe this promise for my parents. You have made them godly in Christ. Be faithful to your promise that they will flourish and remain vital and green in old age, declaring your goodness and justice. In Jesus name, Amen.

Dear God please help me to be a good parent. Please help me to teach my children to have empathy for those who are dealing with unfortunate circumstances, to be reverent to you, to be optimistic and hopeful that your goodness will prevail in all circumstances, that when they fall it is a time to learn from their mistakes, to do something good and meaningful that gives purpose and happiness to their lives, that mommy and daddy love each other, but most of all we love you.
