Prayers for Marriage
Father, you say in your word that Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken (Ecclesiastes 4:12). Be the third strand in our marriage, making it unbreakable. Bind yourself tightly to us and be the strength that binds us to each other for the rest of our lives. Help us to put on your love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. (Colossians 3:14) In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Father, in your word you tell us to let each husband love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband (Ephesians 5:33). You don’t command us to do things that are impossible: empower [husband’s name] to love [wife’s name] as he loves himself, and empower [wife’s name] to respect [husband’s name]. You’ve filled our hearts with your love (Romans 5:5), enable us to pour out your love generously and graciously on each other today. In Jesus name, Amen.
Father, your love is patient and kind. It is not jealous or boastful or proud 5or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). You’ve given us this kind of love. Help us to love each other with this kind of love. Make our marriage show your unconditional love. In Jesus name, Amen.
